The story behind the candles.

Hi, I'm Deirdre — founder, poured-over-the-sink creator, and the person who once burned three candles at once just to see which one felt most like a Sunday afternoon.

Like a lot of mums, my days don't leave much room for stillness. Work, family, the never-ending mental load of it all — by the time evening comes, a quiet moment feels like something you have to earn. I found mine in candles. Not fancy ones. Not ones that sat on a shelf looking serious. Ones that made me smile the moment I lit them. Ones that smelled like something I already loved — birthday cake still warm from the oven, a waffle cone in summer, the particular sweetness of Nan's kitchen on a baking day.
The problem was, I couldn't find them anywhere.

So I made them myself. Maple Beech Co started at my kitchen bench with a bag of soy wax, a handful of fragrance oils, and a lot of pours that didn't quite work. What began as a way to fill the house with something that felt like memory slowly became something I couldn't stop making.
Every candle is still hand-poured in small batches — the same unhurried way it's always been. From Bubblegum Waffle Cone to Lemon Meringue, each one is designed to spark something. 
A memory. A mood. A moment that's just for you.

At Maple Beech Co, we believe the everyday deserves a little ceremony. That home should smell as good as it feels. That a candle can be more than fragrance — it can be a ritual, a comfort, a small and quiet celebration of being exactly where you are.
We don't make candles for shelves. We make them for kitchen benches, bedside tables, and the ten minutes after the kids are finally asleep.
